Jeanette led a vibrant and exceptional life. As a teen, she competitively swam, ran track, played softball and was a lead singer for her church choir. She then earned a BA in nursing from the University of Florida in 1963. Later at the Yale Psychiatric Institute, Jeanette clinically trained in psychoanalytically oriented group and family therapy, and met her future husband, Werner Schimmelbusch.
After marrying in 1971, Jeanette had two children, Andre and Anne. In 1986, Jeanette received her MA in psychology from Antioch University West, and obtained credentials as an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner, with board certification in child and adult psychiatric nursing. She opened a very successful psychotherapy practice, treating children, adults, and couples.
Jeanette was a loving, devoted and selfless wife, mother, grandmother and psychotherapist. She was an uncanny empath; Jeanette’s interactions infused everyone with warmth and tender love. She always put her family before herself—Jeanette blessed her children in immeasurable, timeless ways. Adoring grandchildren will always remember her as a second mother.
Some of Jeanette’s best times were spent at her vacation home on Fort George Island, Florida, at her ski chalet on Snoqualmie Pass and on her boat on Lake Washington and Puget Sound.
Jeanette’s parents, William and Dorothy Dyal, and her youngest brother, Randall Dyal, preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband, Werner; her brother, Darryl and his wife Denise of Jacksonville; her son, Andre and his wife, Kerry, of Newcastle, Washington; her daughter, Anne and her husband, Richard, of Chicago; and her five grandchildren, Milan (9), Sean (7), Madeline (6), Sadie (3), and RJ (3 months).
Jeanette always offered thoughtful, caring, and loving guidance, and she will be missed by all.
