Today I said goodbye to one of the most beautiful women I have ever known. You might accuse me of being biased, but anyone who met my Mom would agree with me. She was my biggest fan and much of what I am today is a result of her input into my life. Her love was unconditional, just as a mother's love should be. It is the purest form of love this side of Heaven. It wasn't just for me...my sisters, step brother and sister, brothers-in-law, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and too many friends to name all got to experience her love, care and concern.
It is also true she had her faults - we all do, and because she knew her own shortcomings she was able to look past the shortcomings of others..there is a lesson in that we could all benefit from!
I will miss our daily "check-ins". I will miss the "I love yous"
I will miss the information on the rest of the family - quicker and more efficient than Facebook!
I am reminded of her every time I look into the mirror! I have benefited from her genes! 
Although this is a time of tears - they aren't for her - they are for us, because we will miss her presence in our lives.
There is Good News in all this - our loss is Heaven's gain and she is now in the presence of her Lord. Whole, Healthy and rejoicing in the words "Well Done!"
May we all aspire to hear that as well!

Joan was a beautiful woman who gave love and compasssion to those around her. She was a wonderful step-mom to my best friend Sharon and grandmother to her sons.  I will always remember how she & Stan were so happy together. May God light your way and give you comfort, Carol Richter
