John Vincent PARROTT John Vincent Parrott, age 62, passed away December 27th in Bellevue, Washington after a long battle with liver disease. John was born July 26, 1948 in Spokane, Washington to Vincent and Jean Parrott. Unfortunately John never knew his father who was fatally injured during a military training flight when John was 2 weeks old. His first 11 years were spent growing up near extended family in Spokane until his mother met and fell in love with Robert D. Peterson. They were married in August 1959 at which time John and his sister Norma moved to Seattle and the two families were merged. John was a 1966 graduate of Sealth High School and went on to Linfield College in McMinnville, Oregon for 4 years. After a few years without direction John found Jesus Christ and made his life's work a commitment to helping others through his ministry. John spent nearly 10 years as a missionary in rural towns in Mexico living the life of a poor peasant himself. In the early 90's John moved to Bellevue to be near his ailing sister and recently widowed mother. At that time he became a member of the newly formed City Church of Bellevue. He filled many roles for the church including acting as a personal assistant to the minister Wendell Smith, even traveling with him to South America as an interpreter. John loved his family and though he never married, he held great pride in all his nephews and nieces. He is survived by his stepbrother Douglas Peterson, his stepsister Janice Witzel, his aunt Joan Vacura, his niece Tricia Nilsen, and cousins Michael, David and Bruce Emery. Also surviving are 18 nieces, nephews and cousins. John was preceded in death by his sister Norma Jean Lockner. John's mother Jean preceded John by only a few hours and died the same day, December 27, 2010. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday January 16, 2011 at First Presbyterian Church of Bellevue, 1717 Bellevue Way NE Bellevue, Washington. Both John's and Jean's lives will be honored. Remembrances in John's memory may be made to the American Diabetes Association .
