03/16/1961 - 06/10/2023 Aged 62 Years
On June 10th, 2023 Bill Ranniger passed away peacefully surrounded by his family after a long brave battle with Stage 4 Esophageal Cancer. He is survived by his wife Lisa, his three children, Will, Johnny, and Sam, brother Dan, and sisters Sidnie, Danae, and Jenna.
Bill grew up in Kent in a home with his parents, Dr. Dan and Gail Ranniger, and spent his summers in a cabin located on Henry Island, his favorite place in the world.
Bill graduated from Mercer Island High School in 1979, right around the time he asked his future partner of 46 years, Lisa, to pick flowers together at Luther Burbank.
Bill was a pillar of the greater pacific northwest cooking scene, with 40 years in the hospitality industry. After working in many different places in the greater Seattle area, a match was made with Duke's, where he held the title of Corporate Executive Chef for 19 years. His passion was limitless when it came to sustainability, instilling it as a core value of Duke's and was one of a kind for making the best seafood dishes in the most environmentally conscious way.
Bill was a beacon of light and joy to all who came in contact with him. A perfect day in the life of Bill was being surrounded by his family, cooking incredible meals, watching the Seahawks, and smelling the ocean breeze with a glass of Chardonnay.
Bill's Memorial will be held June 21st, 11AM at Sunset Hills Cemetery. His Celebration of Life will then take place at Dukes at Dockside at 2PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to Fred Hutch Cancer Center - www.fredhutch.com/memorial
