Joy was the eldest child of Louis and Ann Palagi, born and raised in San Francisco, California. She attended Balboa High School followed by the College of San Mateo where she earned her associates degree. After completing her schooling, she held several accounting jobs with Mobil Oil and Shell Oil over a number of years. While working at Mobil Oil she met her future husband, David Stojanovich. They married in 1957 and spent 66 wonderful years together before her passing. In 1969 she and Dave moved to the Pacific Northwest, several years later finding what would become their forever-home in Clyde Hill, Washington. Joy enjoyed fine entertaining and interior decorating along with a passion for collecting antiques. She took pride in hosting guests and events at their home through the years. Joy spent many years volunteering for the Bellevue School District in a variety of roles. She was an animal lover, rescuing and caring for multiple stray cats over the decades and enjoying her grand-pets later on as well. Later in life she devoted years to helping care for her young grandchildren and to the very end treasured her role as “Nana”, adored by the three grandchildren that she spent so much time with (Sydney, Riley and Austin). She would never miss a sporting event, art gallery, performance or graduation as long as she was able.
Joy was preceded in death by her parents and her younger brother Harvey Palagi, but is survived by her younger sister, Darla Jorgenson. She is also survived by her husband, David Stojanovich, daughter Dinah Quick(son-in-law Brent Quick) and grandchildren Sydney, Riley and Austin.
