

Judson W. Virden
March 14, 1931 – December 4, 2011
Judson William Virden, born March 14, 1931 in Carey, Ohio to parents Selmon and Ruth Virden, passed away at home after a long battle with cancer on December 4, 2011, with his family by his side J was 80 years old.
Jud grew up in Carey Ohio where his strong work ethic and devotion to family was instilled in him. In High School he played baseball which in later years he loved watching. He was an avid Ohio State football fan as well.
After High School he joined the United States Army, 82nd Airborne Division and made many jumps during the Korean War. He was awarded the Parachutist Badge, The Combat Infantryman Badge, Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and The National Defense Service Medal.
After leaving the Army, he enrolled in Tri-State University in Indiana and graduated with a Civil Engineering degree in 1957. Jud joined Factory Mutual Engineering in 1957, an industrial loss prevention and insurance company that is today FM Global. While at Factory Mutual he met Pat his wife of 54 years and worked in Detroit, Michigan for eight years. He was then transferred to Seattle, Washington as Vice President and District Manager of Manufactures Mutual Insurance Co. He retired in February 1993 and enjoyed playing many rounds of golf with friends. He was a member of St. Madeleine Sophie Catholic Church and volunteered as an usher for many years. He was a man of integrity and honor; he loved his family and friends, God and Country. He will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his wife Pat, son’s Judson W. Virden, Jr., Mary Kay Virden, John S. Virden and Brinda Virden and daughter’s Elaine M. Virden - Spikes (Raymond) and Marybeth Virden Virden – Houghton (Donald) grandchildren, Judson W. Virden III, Joseph W. Virden, Makayla M. Virden, Spencer J. Virden, Katherine P. Virden, Benjamin K. Houghton and Grant M. Spikes. He is also survived by Maxine M. Green, Celina, Ohio (sister) and Janet Kirchner, Toledo, Ohio (sister).
Funeral Information
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 17 at St. Madeleine Sophie Catholic Church, Bellevue, Washington at 1l:00 am.
