Born October 13, 1932, along with twin sister Jean Eldora, in St. Johns, New Brunswick, Canada, to parents Raymond and Emily Contois, June passed away October 21, 2021. June also had two brothers, Raymond and John. Unfortunately Jean died at 2 years of age, leaving an emptiness June always felt. June was primarily raised in Methuen, Massachusetts until age 13, when her family made the move to the Pacific Northwest. June went to Queen Anne Highschool, graduating in 1950. June met her husband, Van, while working at a construction site where both their fathers were employed. June married Van in October 1951. June was a homemaker while raising their four children in California and Washington, after which she returned to school and earned her AA degree in nursing. June worked in geriatric nursing, becoming director of Northshore Manor Senior Living in Bothell and as a clinical nurse at Bothell Medical Clinic. After both she and Van retired, they traveled many places including Europe, New Zealand, Alaska and Fiji, wintering in Indio, California.
June will be remembered for her love and nurturing of family (including grandchildren and great-grandchildren). June’s legacy is her strong and active Christian faith, which began when as a little girl she would walk by herself to the Methodist church. June is preceded in death by her parents, her siblings and her husband, Van. June is survived by her four children: Karen Vande Bossche (Sherman Burrell), Merrie (Jeff) Tomlin, Sharla (Kevin) Mueller and John (Mary) Vande Bossche: 10 grandchildren: Matt, Liz, Frankie, Jake, Greg, Holly, Rob, Cassie, Pat and Kristen; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Graveside service for family is being held at Sunset Hills Cemetery on October 30, 2021.
