My name is  Thu-Van Nguyen. I used to work with Kata at Pacific Medical Center where she was the Farsi interpreter. I am sad to know she has passed away. I believe Kata is Dr, Naficy’s sister who was the OB Gyn  at  Pacific  Medical Center. If this correct, please accept my belated sincere condolences.

Kata Naficy was my doctor and soulmate. I met her at St Lukes health clinic in the latei 
eighties. She and her colleagues showed me and proved to me the value of healing the mind and body. 
She took the time to educate me about Persian culture. The Bahi religion that she believed in and was persecuted from. I came to love her culture and experiences that she shared with me, her gatherings she had in her home, with fellow friends and soul mates.
Her compassion for others was catching and also enhanced her ability as a doctor.
She always talked about her son. He was in Gynecology at/in Spokane for school. She told me I reminded her of her son.
God bless you Kata for everything. I now know you have always been looking out for me and I pray I will see you on the other side.

I was a patient of Dr Kata Naficy at St. Jude’s Health clinic. She is and always will be a soul mate of mine.  She showed such empathy with me in a period of crisis as a doctor and a close friend. She also told me of her son in Spokane who she loved very deeply.
I will always miss and remember her.

My grandma was one of those people who couldn't get old! At age 70, she was scattering jelly beans around her carpet with her grandson. I remember I was so sad when the grocery store closed. I thought it was the only store with jellybeans. I couldn't believe my eyes when my grandma took me to a real jellybean store. She used to have these two toy ships and troops. We would play "war" with those ships. Late at night, we would watch TV and eat barley soup together. I remember watching Noah's Arc and some show involving Egypt. I watched that show over 100 times! I loved to bike around her neighborhood with the locals. I really wanted to pick blueberries once but it wasn't the season. So, she took me to her backyard where she had a random bush with berries. We wouldn't eat them, only pick. Soon after that,  every kid in the neighborhood would pick those berries every year! When my grandma got sick, she started to wear a wig. As a young kid, I never thought twice about it. When I grew older and she moved out of her house, I noticed something was wrong. She was just getting sicker. She would never give up! All of her doctors told her that she would pass away in under a year. She quadrupled that time. I have so many great memories with her that I will never forget. My dad always says, "If she was alive, she would be so impressed with me." Well, everything happens for a reason. I am glad my grandma didn't have to deal with this devastating virus in a nursing home. She passed away peacefully and is now in a much better place. RIP Kata. 

From the moment I met Kata, I knew she was special.  She had a definite angelic quality and charm about her.  Though I met her only a few times mostly at the company of others, she did invite me to her home once for an afternoon visit where we had a great conversation and a chat. Since I was visiting from overseas I never got to see her again. When I found out she was ill, I wrote to her and she wrote back with amazing grace and her signature decorum. I prayed for her and will continue to do so. We met briefly in this life but I am certain of an eternal affinity we both shared. Journey on and travel well dear Kata.

Kata and I were friends when she was completing her doctorate from Sorbonne.  Her project was in Chicago around 1973.  My memories of her are of a deep feeling, kind and highly intelligent person.  She often spoke of missing her son in Tehran.  About ten years ago she sent pictures of Saman and his family to me.  To them I extend my deepest condolences.  I wish I could have said good-bye.

Kata was a Very special person in my life. Over the last 25 years she gave me more than I can ever repay. She was always there to lend a ear and offer advice that I could always trust.  Kata was always helping someone with something, she was always giving herself to others in anyway she could.. She was my Persian Mother, I love her with all of my heart and soul. I am proud to be her fair haired son!She will be missed by my family and I, we will never forget her.  I cannot put into words the loss I am feeling, I can only imagine the loss her family is feeling right now. I pray for you all, we were all very lucky to have spent the time we had with our Kata. My boys call her grandma Kata, I call her my angel from heaven. She was my Mom, my friend, and my spiritual journeyer. Together we traveled to many places, Paris being one of the places we traveled to. This trip to Paris being best trip of my life with Kata my friend. 
I would like to thank ALL of the Naficy Family for always  sharing Kata with All of us.  Thank you ALL.

Katayoon Naficy first became my colleague and friend at the Saint Luke Medical Center in Bellevue in 1987 and from the first days in the clinic, we shared so much of life professionally and with family for 30 years.  She was my physician's assistant, a clinical partner, and so much more. Kata loved life, full of compassion and love for her family and friends and patients. She spoke 6 languages and I would practice my French and Spanish with her. Kata was deeply spiritual and we would discuss religions and would pray and laugh and cry together. She told many funny and poignant stories about her life in Tehran and Paris at the Sorbonne, where she earned her Ph.D. in social psychology, and Spain.  What a beautiful person on the inside and outside! I grew to love Kata like a sister. Her battle with cancer was valiant, and her journey into the heart of God just beginning. I will miss her, until we meet again.
