Christina, Michael, Mark and Deborah & her grandchildren - you are in my prayers as you grieve the loss of your mother and grandmother. The photo album took me on a sentimental journey through the events and years I had heard about. Your mother was very special and I treasure our many years of friendship, I am comforted knowing she and Dean are together again. Rest in Peace Kathy.

Included in my prayer time this morning was a journey through your mother's life by way of the photo album you provided.  You captured so well her spirit.  

It was obvious that you were the center of her life along with your father.  She shared a spirit of giving, joy, faithful service,love for family and friends, energizing fun, compassion, deep care for children, love of natural beauty, an openness to travel and "see the world", taking risks, prayerful and playful, and so many other attributes that add to a life fully lived to the best of her ability.  Not only that, but she was able to share all of this with all of you in addition to other family, friends, and colleagues and add life by being able to gift each one with a piece of her life as she lived it.  

I agree with the words shared by Kevin and Lori Callahan, that Kathy has "but slipped away into the next room" and will continue to be with you.  She is just a memory away and is kept alive by your love for her and her love for you.  You will be in my prayers these days as you grow to get used to the new way Kathy is present to you and watching over each one with a great love.

To the Bergman children - I just want you to know that she was special, I only had one sister, but considered her my adopted sister.  Words cannot express the loss I personally feel.  Having worked with her for so many years one becomes very close.  We shared many happy times and also the not so happy times.  I will miss her more than anyone will know.  I am sure she is now with Dean who always called her "the love of his life".

I met Kathy when I worked for the Providence sisters at St. Joseph residence in the 1990's.  She was a very nice woman.  I am sorry that she left us.  My husband and I send our condolences.  God bless. roberta and david chamberlain

I met Kathy in Montreal where we were having a joint Secretarial meeting when Mother Joseph Province began.  She was so welcoming and friendly to us.  She ask if anyone wanted to go swimming in the heated pool, and I said I would love to join her.  We had so much fun talking and laughing, and I felt like we had known each other for a long time.

Over the years we had many talks and laughs in Seattle and even Rome.

She was quite a lady!  I will never forget her.

She was such an asset to the staff of the Sisters for so many years, taking care of their housing needs, auto needs, and so many other details she took care of.  

My sincere condolences to family and friends.  She took such good care of Dean and loved her kids and grandchildren so much.

Kathy's photo album is, in itself, a loving tribute to her as a loving wife, mother and grandmother.  I only knew Kathy in her wonderful service to the Sisters of Providence as she managed housing, transportation and all things material for all of us.  Her down to earth humor and approach to life gave us all a very practical perspective on life.  I will certainly miss Kathy and pray for her and for her family.  Sr. Charlotte VanDyke

What a beautiful way to honor the life of your mom!  I love the photos and to see the fun and laughter just jump from so many of the photos.  I remember Mrs. Bergman from some of the high school events.  Always a smile on her face.  Praying for the entire Bergman family as they remember this precious gift that was in their life for so long a time.  Blessings to all....

Kathy is my first cousin on my father’s side. The Sullivan children and the Chase children all grew up together in Detroit, MI. We played together and watched many a family ruckus together. 

Kathy was the eldest and I was just a little kid. I always looked up to her because she was a teenager who could have treated us that way that teenagers do, but she did the exact opposite. She was kind to us, she played with us, and she watched out for us. When they moved to Long Beach, CA, I remember feeling that a huge part of my family security was moving away. I absolutely did not want my aunt, uncle, and cousins to move away, I knew that I would miss them and that we not be in each other’s lives quite the same way. 

We saw them every now and again when they came back to Detroit on vacation, but it was different. We were all growing up and going our separate ways. Then one day we got the big news, Kathy is getting married. We were going out to California, by TRAIN no less. I could not believe it; we were finally going to out to the mysterious land of California to see our family. Not only would were we going to see the Chase’s, but we were also going to see the Husk’s and more importantly, we were going to Kathy’s wedding. It was unbelievable, I was so excited and I could hardly contain myself.  

The wedding was wonderful, Kathy was beautiful, and Dean was handsome. We all danced and celebrated the way we did when we all lived in Detroit, minus the drama. It was a great celebration and everyone was very proud. That time in California stands out as one of the great memories of my childhood. 

After many years of living in Long Beach, Kathy and Dean moved up to the suburbs of Seattle. One year, my husband and I were up in the Seattle area and we went by visit them. We had a great time talking and laughing about old and new family stories and arguing about unions. They made my husband feel welcomed and part of the family. 

The thing about growing up in a big extended family is; you grow up with the cycle of life. You see your grandparent’s grow older and you watch your parent’s take care of them. Then it happens to you and you begin to take care of your parent’s. Kathy understood that and was there for my mom when my dad passed away, just as she was for me in a big way during a difficult, time when my mom passed away. 

Kathy always treated my parent’s with great love and respect and she always acknowledged the love, sacrifice, and hard work that my mom put into the lives of our grandparents. 

Even though Kathy and I were not always in communication, we loved each other very much. Nothing can erase the love and loyalty that I feel for Kathy or for any of my cousin’s, not time or distance. 

Kathy is a great, loyal, and kind person who once again is the first one to go forward and make the way easier for the rest of us. I know that we will see her again waiting with the rest of the family to welcome us.

I am sorry for your loss. She was an amazing person. Her love for her kids and grandchildren was felt in air. Her heart consumed her body. My thoughts are with you and your family. Much love.

You gave the Sisters of Providence 28 years of dedicated service. You were available to us no matter what time your help was needed. It was my privilege to work with you and I greatly appreciated your wisdom and generosity. I ask that God will bless you as He receives you into heaven to join Dean and I ask God to especially bless your children, grandchildren and family.

My favorite Auntie spent her time well.  She has been a significant influence in my life and I'm sure many others.  I will forever be grateful for her loving and supportive conversations that helped me make significant life decisions.  Aunt Kathy helped me recognize that God's plans were bigger than mine.  I have two amazing sons that will know she played a part in our family's destiny.  
Thank you Auntie for being an example.  You laughed a ton, cared for many, and stayed faithful.  Our loss is great but the Lord has taken home a faithful servant.

Mom, while you no longer inhabit this earth, you will forever be in my heart. We learned how to love, respect others, be loyal, protect, and laugh. I'm sure God is relieved to know that you are there to help him keep dad in line.  May eternity be all that you dreamed it would be and much more. Until we meet again I know you'll be our guardian angel.  Rest in peace Mom.  I love and miss you more than you can imagine.
