

Kunio Homma, 84, died peacefully on October 21, 2024. He was born in Los Angeles on March 29, 1940, to the late Dr. Kyushiro and Mutsu Wada Homma. During WWII, his family was forced to evacuate to Amache Internment Camp in Granada, CO, where his father passed away at the age of 44. The family resettled in Seattle, WA, with his grandparents, Rev. Masahiko and Kuni Wada. He grew up in the Japanese Baptist Church parsonage until the family moved to the Beacon Hill part of Seattle.
He participated in sports at Japanese Baptist Church, and he was a member of the church’s boy scout troop. While attending Franklin High School, Kunio started working at Osborn & Ulland Sporting Goods under Mr. Yosh Nakagawa. Also while in high school, he played with Seattle’s Lotus Skyliners Band. He worked at O&U until they closed and finished his work career at Macy’s Furniture Store. Tennis, golfing, and skiing were some of his favorite local activities.
In addition to sports, Kunio loved to travel, read novels, and enjoy other cultures. He loved to visit Japan and learn about his family and grandparents. Traveling with Diane created many memories and stories. Kunio faithfully looked after his mother and siblings throughout his life.
Kunio was preceded in death by his brother Hisao Homma (2016) and sister Kumiko Hasegawa (2024). He is survived by his partner, Diane, along with several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Sunset Hills Memorial Park and Funeral Home, 1575 145th Pl SE, Bellevue, WA, on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at 1:15pm (immediately following burial for family and close friends).
