She passed on peacefully with her daughters by her side, at home in Enumclaw, WA. She was 97 years old.
LaRue was born outside of Lehr, North Dakota to John and Elizabeth Miller, on the family farm. She grew up with four brothers and four sisters. There she learned her homemaking skills from her mother. LaRue was an exceptional cook and kept a spotless home.
One of her most beloved jobs was at the Anne Carlson Crippled Children’s School in Jamestown, North Dakota. This was the beginning of her love for children.
LaRue married the love of her life Maurice Stanley Miller (Mort) in 1950. In the summer of 1951 they moved to the Seattle area. She was a devoted wife and mother of two. She loved playing the piano throughout her entire life, comprising a songlist of the gospel hymns she grew up on. She played all of these hymns by ear and loved playing for others. She also loved taking in a sunset, which she always stood in awe of. LaRue’s life was one of giving. She offered her home to many, she gave much of what she created in the kitchen away, and her attention was always yours.
Her love of God, family and friends resonated throughout her life. LaRue was loving and gracious to all who were so blessed to have known her. There will never be another like her. She was truly a good and faithful servant.
She is survived by her sister Violet Bittner, daughters Gale Wagner and Ann Carney; six grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She will always live on in our hearts.
Memorial Service will be held on June 26, 2026 from 1:30pm - 5:00pm at Sunset Hills Memorial Park and Funeral Home 1575 145th PL SE Bellevue, WA 98007
I believe we’ll meet again where there’s no sorrow, no tears
