Marian E Webster

She grew up in Selah, where her parents had an apple and pear orchard and helped make apple boxes, harvest and pack the fruit. She recently visited Selah and was happy to see that her old home was beautiful and cared for, and the big barn used as fruit storage and packing that her father built was still in use.

In 1945 she and her high school sweetheart, Don Johnson, were married. Her daughter, Gwen, was born in 1947 followed by Claudia in 1950. Marian’s family grew with the marriages of her girls to include grandchildren Matt (Gloria) and Jon (Sydney) Evers (sons of Kurt and Claudia Evers), Coleen (Jason), Marta and Aaron (Autumn) Harrell (children of Gwen Baughman and Ed Harrell), and (with the marriage of Gwen to Harry Baughman) Sara (Bryan) and Zach Baughman. She also lived to enjoy her great grandchildren Cody Evers, Trinity Harrell, and Teagan Harrell. She was very proud of her family.

Marian did various volunteer jobs in her long life, and was always generous with her time. She was very musical and played the piano and organ for church services and her own enjoyment. She and Don attended First Covenant Church in Seattle, Factoria Covenant Church, then Highland Covenant Church in Bellevue, and she continued friendships throughout her life that she formed there.

Don passed away in 1974. In 1980 she married Vernon Webster, a childhood neighbor and friend. He was Marian’s grandkids’ grandpa and a good one! They loved to travel and saw much of the western United States. Vernon passed away in 2000 after a short illness.

Marian passed away on Oct. 8, 2012. She will be remembered for her love of her family, her cheerful ways, and uncomplaining demeanor. She and her family appreciate all the wonderful helpers who assisted her every day at Mission Healthcare, Evergreen Hospice, and those at Merrill Gardens, where she longed to be. Her family, friends, and helpers will miss her very much.
