Marianne was born on July 24, 1942, in Chicago, IL, daughter of the late August and Mary (Siran) Kreiling.
Marianne was an avid reader, hiker, and loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild. She was a graduate of Blanchet High School and Seattle University. While in college, she became a member of the HiYu Coulee Hiking Club, an interest that she maintained for many years beyond college and which was the source of many lifelong friendships dear to her heart. After graduating, she was accepted to the University of Washington School of Medicine, where she was the only woman in her class. In 1965, she chose to leave her studies to marry Ron and devote herself to their family. Marianne was faithful to her vocation as a wife and mother. She was a dedicated homemaker, handywoman, and landscaper, putting her heart into improving her homes for the comfort and enjoyment of her family over the years (to the extent of tearing down walls, building cabinets, and even an extravagant dollhouse). She was generous with family, friends, and strangers. She always had a smile for everyone.
She spent many years raising her children and babysitting her grandsons. Marianne also enjoyed the time spent throughout the years with her husband, both at home and vacationing in Washington, Oregon, and British Columbia.
Marianne was a communicant of St. Louise Parish in Bellevue, WA, where she attended in person most of her life, and virtually in her later years.
Marianne is survived by her husband Ronald Geck, daughter Elise Geck, sons Ross Geck and his wife Laurie, and Reid Geck and his wife Dakarie Johndro, one granddaughter, her husband, and their son, and three grandsons. She is predeceased by her sister Gladys Kreiling and her aunt Maria Kreiling.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Louise Church, Bellevue, WA, on Thursday, October 8, at 11:00 a.m.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, October 9, at 10:30 am in the Sunset Hills Cemetery, Bellevue, WA.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society in memory of Marianne.
