Melvin you are and will always be a force and a light to this world. You brought so much joy and love to everyone you met. I’ll always cherish your memory and continue to carry it with me. I’ll remember to dance, to sing, to rap and to laugh as much and as often as possible. You were a true gift to this life and I’m honored to have shared a piece of it with you. Our sincere condolences to the entire Jenkins family.  It seems like yesterday that we all cheered on the kids on the track as they represented Plateau Runners Track Club (PRTC) at local and national meets.  What great memories as I recall Mel Jr and that awesome smile.  Know that his indelible personality touched everyone that he came into contact and will forever be remembered by all.  Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

As a young member of Unity COGIC I was always impressed with the level of respect that he gave me as a youth leader.

He was very kind when I met him. He did not speak a lot but always had a smile.  It was evident he loved his family.

To the family and Melvin Jr himself better know as Little Melvin.  I'll always cherish the memories of a specific happy memory or activity we shared the laughter, the shared moments and the simple joys we experienced down through the years. I will forever miss my nephew coming by our house asking the question, Aunt Sheila, when is the last time you cooked fried chicken, fried corn, devil eggs and German chocolate cake.  I would often go into the kitchen and just start cooking these dishes while he would visit with the family.  Nephew as we celebrate your life, I want you to know that we as a family appreciated your fashion and your bubble, outgoing personality.  We want you to know that you can rest in knowing that we will take care of your mom and sister. Nephew say hello to my mom and mama dear when you see them.

This was down on lake Washington. Right before we got married. Mel always smiled. He had a smile that could light the room up from a distance.

This was after we got married. He was showing off hoods wedding ring and looking so handsome.

Mel was an incredible friend and person. His smile was contagious and unforgettable. If you were lucky enough to know Mel, he brought joy to your life at all times. He was always the first to crack a joke and had the best spirit about everything. He was always optimistic and the life of the party. He will be truly missed but the memories of his friendship and the affect he had on the community will last a life time. Sending my condolences, love and prayers to the entire Jenkins and extended family. Rest easy Mel. We will see you again some day.
