Born Patricia Ann Casey in San Francisco, California to Kathleen Frances Carleton (Casey) and James Henry Casey on March 6, 1933. Pat was a member of the Most Holy Redeemer’s Class of 1946. She married Andrew L. Barone on May 1, 1954 at the Church of the Nativity in Menlo Park.
Pat and Andy made their first home in the Westlake Community, near Daly City, CA. Andy’s employment with Union Oil Company soon had them moving regularly from Daly City to Sacramento, to Los Angeles, all the way north to Bellevue, WA and ultimately retiring in Woodinville, WA.
Pat and Andy started their family with three girls in Westlake, added one son and one more daughter in Sacramento, and later adventured north with five children between the ages of 6 and 13 in 1968. After getting the children settled into school, Pat returned to her career working first at Safeco and later retiring from Unigard Insurance.
In retirement, after enjoying many years of sailing adventures throughout US and Canadian waters on their beloved “Stormalong”, Pat and Andy ventured further with sailing charters in the Caribbean and Greek Islands. Also in retirement, after much research to trace their respective Irish and Sicilian roots, Pat and Andy traveled to Europe to explore the ancestral villages, meet relations and make new connections with those still living in the towns of their forefathers.
Pat went on to become a Master Gardener and so enjoyed sharing her love of gardening through that affiliation as well as the Arboretum Foundation. She was also an avid Seahawks fan, and as a seasoned ticket holder shared many a game with family.
Pat is survived by all five of her loving children; Carol Greetan (Doug Mosen), Arlene Buetow (Bayard), Ellen Barone, David Barone (Theresa), Sheila Barone, associated grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Arthur “Tim” Casey.
A private ceremony is planned at Tahoma National Cemetery on Thursday, March 11, 2021. We look forward to the day when families can gather safely to embrace and comfort one another in times of grief. In the meantime your kind thoughts and prayers will comfort us for the loss of our dear mother.
We would also like to take this opportunity to express our sincere appreciation for the compassionate care provided all of us during moms short stay at Evergreen Hospice Center of Kirkland, WA. In lieu of flowers, donations in memoriam of Pat Barone may be made to Master Gardener Foundation UW-CUH, Box 354115 Seattle, WA 98195
