Patricia Woods Pedersen

Pat was born on January 5, 1922 to Lyle and Florence Wilson Woods in Okanogan, WA. Lyle left his young family when Pat was just 2 years old, leaving Florence to raise her and her older brother, Howard as a single mother. Florence moved her brood in with her parents where there was no indoor plumbing or electricity. Life was hard and then the Great Depression hit.

Pat was the head cheerleader at her high school and because she was a good athlete, she played varsity baseball (2nd Base) with the boys! Her athleticism served her well into adulthood when she took up the game of golf, later becoming the Captain of the Overlake Golf Club Women’s Division in 1978.

Howard Woods moved to Seattle after high school and convinced his younger sister, Pat to join him. They lived in a boarding house on Capitol Hill while Pat continued her education at a business school. Howard also introduced Pat to her future husband, Ron who was a good friend. Pat and Ron were married on September 19, 1942, right before Ron enlisted with the U.S. Navy to fight World War II in the Pacific theater. Ron survived the war and Pat survived living with his parents during his absence. Pat and Ron enjoyed 62 years of marriage before he passed away in 2004.

Pat & Ron’s only son, Steve joined them in 1953. Steve was the first member of the family to graduate from college (University of Washington) with Phi Beta Kappa honors.

Marilyn Waters joined the family in 1978. Pat was the best mother in law one could ever hope for! Grandsons Bobby and R.J. were the apple of their grandparents’ eyes and great granddaughter, Dita completed Pat’s immediate family.

Pat is survived by her son, Steve (Marilyn), Grandsons Bobby (Coty) and R.J. (Katie), and great granddaughter, Dita.

Our family is deeply grateful to Dee, Elizabeth and the Complete Care team of caregivers who ensured Pat’s comfort and safety during her final months at Pacific Regent in Bellevue.

A Celebration of Pat’s wonderful life will transpire on Saturday, July 3, 2021 at St. Thomas Episcopal Church at 11:00 am.
