Our beloved Father went to be with the Lord on January 5, 2013 with family by his side to love and support him. Paul E Johnson was born on May 19, 1923 into an immigrant Swedish-Finn family, growing up in Ballard and living for most of his life in the Seattle area. He was an amazing man; one of integrity, faith, strong family values, generosity, and kindness. After serving in the Navy, Paul graduated from the UW with an engineering degree and enjoyed a long successful career. He worked mainly in propulsion design on a multitude of projects. Early in his career he spent six years in Wichita, Kansas where life long friends were made, moving back to the Seattle area in the late fifties. He worked on the B-47, B-52, 707, SST, 737, 747, 757, 767, 7J7, and many other projects for over thirty-eight years with the Boeing Company. Throughout his life, he formed cherished friendships. His passion and love of knowledge led him to seek life long learning in a variety of aeronautical, science, mechanical and technology arenas. He was active in sports and many activities including family gatherings, skiing with family and the Ski Patrol, dancing with his love Catherine, reading, bridge, his friends at Grace Lutheran Church in Bellevue, traveling, fishing with his sons, and friends and activities at Covenant Shores Retirement Community. He lived a full and giving life with the gift of health, faith, family and dear friends and we are truly blessed to have him as our Father. He will be remembered and loved forever and always. Paul is preceded in death by his parents, dear wife Catherine, and brother and spouse (Robert and Betty). He is survived by three sons and their spouses (Dennis and Dawn, Jim and Luanne, Ken and Colleen), one daughter and spouse (Marcia and Darrell), nine grandchildren and spouses (Elizabeth, Trevor and Kristin, Erin and Roy, Amanda, Erikka, Ben, Stephanie and Josh, Tanner, Lauren) two great grandchildren (Isobel, Brooklyn) a brother in law and sister in law (Don and Alice), and nieces and nephews- all who love and cherish the memories together. A Memorial Celebration of Dad’s life will be held on February 16 at 2pm at Grace Lutheran Church in Bellevue. Donations in Dad’s memory may be made to the Grace Lutheran Church Memorial Garden support fund or the Covenant Shores Benevolent fund.
