Richard Harold Barthol

Richard Harold Barthol, born December 14, 1942, beloved husband of Elsa for 51 years, cherished father of Marie Coffland (Ryan) and Ann Barthol, precious grandfather of Luke and Claire Coffland and Vail Barthol and admired and loved brother of Diane Blaschka and niece Sasha, passed away at Overlake Hospital on Tuesday, July 13, 2021. For thirty-six years he thoroughly enjoyed working as a civil engineer for the City of Redmond and was highly regarded by his colleagues. Dick was a devoted long time season ticket holder of the U. of W. Husky Football program and an avid fan of Mariners Baseball. As a young man, he enjoyed several years as a ski patrolman on the original Alpental Ski Patrol. Camping in the great outdoors, gardening and home projects brought him much satisfaction. His family really learned how to deeply care for the earth and grow beautiful plants. Dick was an active member of Faith Lutheran Church. He was a hard worker, embracing enduring optimism with a peaceful, kind and humble nature impacting all who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Dolores and Raymond Barthol. Memorial services will be held at Faith Lutheran Church of Redmond, Washington on Saturday August 21, 2021 at 11:00am.
