Richard was born to proud parents, Bill and Leota Coillot, on September 19, 1941 in South Gate, California. He passed away from a massive stroke on the evening of August 23, 2019 surrounded by his family.
Richard served his country proudly in the United States Air Force. He often recalled memories of days spent in the frozen tundra of Thule, Greenland where he was stationed. Later he met and married the love of his life, Shellie (Corridean) Coillot. They went on to have four children, all girls! Throughout his career, Richard worked as an accountant for different construction companies in California and Washington. His delight was his family and Notre Dame football. He passed on this love of football and sports in general to his daughters. For years, the family competed in a college pick ‘em league that provided hours of fun competition. Richard will long be remembered for his love of sports, historical sports knowledge and conversations that ensued from the same, a good cigar, corny jokes, loving dogs of any kind and teasing anyone who walked in his front door. Topping all of that, was his endearing, never ending love of his departed wife of 34 years, Shellie.
Richard is survived by his sister, Carolue; loving daughters Kim, Becky, Trish and Carol; son-in-laws Jon Bailes, Jose Cotto and Mike Fleming; his adored grandchildren: Joshua, Caleb, Stephen and Grace Fleming; Joey, Drew and Cory Cotto; Katie and Shaun Bailes; and Jaxson Rukkila.
Rosary services will be held Thursday, September 5th at 7:00 p.m. and Funeral/Mass on Friday, September 6 at 11:00 a.m. Both of the services will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church, 7045 120th Ave. NE, Kirkland, WA 98033. Reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, please donate to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Richard's memory, www.stjude.org.
