Robert Paul Guilbeault Sr.

Bob was born on October 24, 1935, in Acushnet, Massachusetts, the son of Henry (Ty) and Ernestine Guilbeault. He was raised on a small dairy farm in Acushnet. On that farm, he was taught the timeless core values of hard work, respect, self-sufficiency, integrity, care for animals, and a Christian way of life. Bob made those values a significant part of his life and with his family and those that knew him.

Survivors include Bob's wife Mary Sue; his two sons Robert "Bo" P. Guilbeault (Lorri) of Quincy, WA, and Michael "Mike" W. Guilbeault (Karen) of Renton, WA, and daughter Stephanie A. Riley (James) of Bellevue, WA. Also included are four grandsons, Zackory Guilbeault (Karla), Riley Guilbeault (Cat), Alec James "AJ" Riley, and three granddaughters, Courtney Guilbeault, Amber Riley, and Hannah Throckmorton (Cal); as well as by two great-grandchildren, Luke Guilbeault and Cameron "Cami" Throckmorton.

Bob had three brothers, Donald, Henry "Hank", Richard, and two sisters, Claire Loranger and JoAnn Ambroult; as well as a grandson, Conrad Guilbeault, that preceded Bob's passing.

Bob spent his entire distinguished 50+ (1959-2010) year career in the electrical construction industry. He was known for being smart, clever, and hard-working with a can-do spirit. Over the years, responsibilities and experience rapidly progressed from basic engineering, cost analysis, field labor studies, project engineering and management, negotiation techniques, fundamental construction law, and executive positions. He served on a vast spectrum of distinguished projects throughout the United States. They included Titan 1 and 2 and Minuteman missile sites, nuclear & hydro-electric plants, professional baseball & football facilities, multli-story office buildings, and the Trident submarine base infrastructure at Keyport, WA, all employed with two of the world's largest electrical contractors.

In 1980, Bob joined the executive ranks of Holmes Electric Company of Kent, WA, and helped lead it to be one of the largest and highly-respected electrical design/build electrical firms in the Pacific Northwest. Bob retired in 2010. During those years, Bob worked tirelessly to improve the electrical industry through seminars, expositions and fellowship. In 1988, the Electric League of the Pacific Northwest (an association comprising of consulting engineering firms, utility companies, factory reps, distributors, and contractors) recognized his efforts with the 1988 Man of the Year Award.

Throughout his life, Bob was a sports enthusiast. Baseball was his favorite sport, havign played twilight CYO League and semi-pro until full-time job interference reduced his performance. He was a Millbrae, CA Lions Club Little League Commissioner, as well as a manager/coach for Bo & Mike's teams until they reached high school age and playing time. Bob also enjoyed bird hunting, golf, snow/water skiing, bowling, and dancing. He njoyed attending Stef's dance recitals.

Upon arrival in the Pacific Northwest, power boat yachting became his favorite pastime. Residing in Newport Shores with a boat moorage made it easy as a favorite family summertime on the lake and Salish Sea. Bob served on the Board and as Commodore of the Newport Yacht Club. Years later, Bob joined the Seattle Yacht Club and served as a Board Trustee, as well as on many committees. He eventually achieved Life Member Status, and was Secretary of the Seattle Yacht Club Foundation.

After completing his studies at New Bedford Tech in mid-June 1956, Bob received his draft notice, but decided to enlist in the U.S. Army Reserves. His active duty was from July 31, 1956, to July 1958, primarily stationed in the Fort Leonard Wood's 18th Engineer Brigade. The balance of his Reserves commitment was deferred due to his involvement in a high-priority missle project. Bob was honorably discharged from the Army in 1962.

Bob and his family have been parishioners of St. Madeliene Sophie Catholic Church since 1977. A memorial mass will be held here in the coming weeks; details may be found on this webpage once confirmed.
