September 21, 1958 – March 7, 2020
It is with heartbreaking sadness, we announce the sudden death of Ron Laverty on March 7, 2020. Ron passed away surrounded by his loving family. He was born September 21, 1958 to Arlene Kulju and Ronald Laverty Sr. in Downey, California and spent his youth in Lynwood, Lakewood and Yorba Linda, California, graduating from Troy High School in 1976.
Ron moved to Redmond, Washington in August 1980 and worked at Goodyear in Woodinville. In Woodinville he met and fell in love with Shari MacGregor. They were married in 1992 and Ron became a devoted and loving father to her children, Karl, Robyn and Keith, all who adore him.
He left Goodyear in 1993 to become a Realtor alongside his wife while she was ill. He then opened his own business, called Western Repairs, using the same name as his father-in-law’s Canadian contracting business. Ron immensely enjoyed and excelled at being a General Contractor for 17 years. Most recently he was working at Bath Planet still in the remodeling industry.
Ron was a renaissance man and excelled in many endeavors; including golfing, fly fishing, bowling, cooking and gardening. He was a music connoisseur. One of his passions was wine making and he became an integral mentor in a wine making group he helped to form in 2000. The group became fast friends. Additionally, Ron never met a dog or cat he didn’t like and they always reciprocated his love.
Ron was beloved by all who knew him. He was a smart, funny, artistic, kind and gentle man. He was always smiling and didn’t take himself too seriously. Ron was a generous and loving soul. He will live on in our hearts forever.
Ron is survived by his loving wife Shari; son Karl Stricker and wife Erica; his daughter Robyn, his son Keith and wife Elisa; as well as his precious grandchildren, Kinsey, Paige and Luke; Ron’s mother, AJ (Arlene) and his brother Roger, as well as extended family and many friends. Ron was preceded in death by his father, Ron Laverty Sr.

As Shari's brother, I want to celebrate Ron along with her. One measure of a life well-lived is how much they are missed after they are gone, and we see that Shari deeply misses Ron and the life they shared together.
Ron seemed to build up a loyal group of followers in what he pursued, whether it was his family, or Western Repairs, or the wine-making group, or his work at Bath Planet. Truly, he had a major impact on all those with whom he came into contact.
To his closest family, we send our condolences and best wishes, and the hope that a life well lived will be well remembered.
Jock, Shirley, and family.
