

Sheila Galvagno, aged 86, was called home to her eternal rest on June 29, 2024, in Issaquah, Washington. Born on December 29, 1937, in Seattle, Washington, to James and Leone O'Neill, Sheila's life was a testament to service, love of family, and kindness to all who knew her. As we mourn her passing, we also celebrate her journey into everlasting peace.
Sheila attended the University of Washington, where she met her future husband, Remo Galvagno. Throughout her life, Sheila dedicated herself to various volunteer activities, showing a steadfast commitment to making a difference in her community. Sheila was a woman of great empathy and generosity, her actions always guided by a profound sense of duty and love for her fellow human beings.
A devout Catholic, Sheila's strong faith was central to her life. She actively volunteered in her church as a Eucharistic Minister, sharing her deep spiritual commitment with her Catholic community. Her passion for volunteering extended beyond the church, as she enjoyed supporting the Overlake Service League, Delta Gamma Fraternity, Providence Hospice of Seattle Foundation, and the PTA. Sheila was honored with the Golden Acorn Award for her many years of service with the PTA. She also received a Distinguished Service Award for her work with the Providence Hospice of Seattle Foundation. As well as receiving the Cable Award, which is presented to Delta Gamma alumnae who demonstrate outstanding devotion to service.
Beyond her volunteer work, Sheila found immense joy in spending time with her grandchildren, an activity that reflected her nurturing and affectionate personality. Her role as a grandmother was one of her most cherished, providing her with countless hours of happiness and pride. Her passions included traveling with her husband, Remo, and attending Washington Husky football, basketball, and baseball games with her family.
Sheila is preceded in death by her parents, James and Leone O'Neill. She is survived by her beloved husband, Remo Galvagno; her son, Steve Galvagno, and his wife Michelle; her daughter, Teri Galvagno; and her son, Marc Galvagno, and his wife Kari. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Stephanie, (Stephen), Corey, (Melissa), Chris, Katie, (Taylor), Jenna, (Brock), Cole, Michael, and Marc, as well as her great-grandchildren, Jack and Parker. Additionally, she is survived by her brother, Shane O’Neill and sisters-in-law, Ginny O'Neill and Connie DelMissier.
A service to honor Sheila's life and legacy will be held on Friday, July 26, 2024, at Sacred Heart Parish, 9460 NE 14th Street, Bellevue, Washington 98004 at 11:00 am.
