Shirley Joanne Smith

Shirley Smith, 85, of Kirkland, passed away peacefully in her home on January 24, 2023.

She was born in Kalispell, Montana. She spent her early years between Montana and Washington and moved to the Seattle area permanently during high school. She later married the love of her life, Charles R. Smith. They moved to Kirkland in 1963 where they raised their three children.

Shirley was a devoted mother and Grandmother to the end. Family meant everything to her. She also had cherished relationships with many friends including in her church community.

She enjoyed reading, gardening, walking, cooking, and visiting with friends and family. She was a great supporter of, and frequently attended, her grandchildren’s activities.

She was predeceased by her husband, Charles R. Smith; sister Kathy Holzschuh; mother Florence Gillette; and father and stepmother, Cleo and Phyllis Reeves. Shirley is survived by her three children: Debra Johnson (Dean), Diane Kendall (Joel) and Charles Smith (Tobi); grandchildren Riley and Ross Johnson, Zoe Kendall, and Jacob and Makena Smith. She is also survived by her stepsister Barbara Coppedge, and many nephews.

A memorial service will be held at The Rose Hill Church in Kirkland on February 24, 2023, at 12:30 pm.
