Our funny, loving, caring teenager, Thomas Dusan Masar (a.k.a. Talia) 15, achieved freedom and was teleported to the next level in the game of life on Tuesday, August 8th at 5:53 pm. From Bellevue, WA, survived by her Mother & Father, Helena and Dusan Masar, Grandparents Dusan and Alzbeta Masar, Aunt’s and Uncle’s Alena and Tono Masik, Sona Jakusova, Renata Adamcova, cousins Marek Bilovsky, Nicolas Adamec, Daniel Masik, Michaela Masikova, Pavlina Jakusova, Martin Jakus. All extended family live in Slovakia.
She attended Puesta del Sol Elementary where she became fluent in Spanish in addition to English and her native Slovak tongue, and the Bellevue Big Picture School for Middle and High School, during which time she received President Barack Obama’s Education Award for Outstanding Academic Achievement (2016) as well as the Youth Link Community Leadership Award for Most Inspirational Youth in 2015. Talia’s middle school math teacher, Matt Stokes, was a huge supporter throughout her battle with cancer which took her from this life. She was an avid gamer, creative writer, manga artist, had a natural singing voice, and even taught herself Japanese.
