OBITUARY

Tommy C Hsu

November 14, 1951October 15, 2020

Our dad passed away on October 15th, and truth be told, more than anything in our lives, we were Daddy’s girls. He was our rock, a loving husband, father and grandfather. We and my mom were his everything, and we are about as spoiled and blessed as they come because of it. We are grateful for every moment we had with you, Daddy. We miss you.

Please help us make sure Kira is able to know what kind of person her 公公 was and share any photos or stories of Tom you might have on our memorial website. We will be very grateful.

We will be holding a short service via Zoom on Friday, October 23, 2020 at 9:30AM PST (UPDATED). Please use the following link to join: https://washington.zoom.us/j/95224223776

In lieu of flowers, please direct donations to the following causes that meant so much to our dad:

Planned Parenthood (https://www.weareplannedparenthood.org/) – to support continued equity in women’s health

Rainier Valley Leadership Academy (www.myrvla.org)– a school seeking to bring equity in education to the South Seattle community

Or most importantly, given how much our Dad would’ve loved to see a Blue Wave – to any of these Democratic funds: https://votesaveamerica.com/donate/

Uncle Tom,

You left us so suddenly. I was very excited to learn you had come to the West Coast. I was looking forward to future visits to California or trips up to Washington. I'm so sorry we won't be able to play golf together again, or talk about real estate, or a number of other things. You were always so full of life and smiles. You will be missed dearly.

Dear Tom,

Miss you so much. May you cruise a most beautiful cloud to an ultimate world. Here is endless golf course, soft grasses, lotus blooming in the water pond. Rest in peace.

Dear Lily, Vivian and Karen
I was so saddened to hear about Tommy. He was so calm and happy all the time. I still remember when he first came to the US and visited our family when we were living there. I wish I could have gotten to know him more over the years. I did have the pleasure of seeing Vivian in Hong Kong when she lived here. Such a sad time as Aunt Johanna, and Tommy are both gone. They are both blessed as they led such wonderful lives surrounded by loving family and friends.

Sincerely,
Roy

We first met on a family dinner when I have just moved to Seattle. I felt welcomed and grateful that I also have family support here. He looked serious at first, but he turned out to be a very welcoming and joyful person. He also shares many interesting stories that I enjoy listening to. He is very successful as he have built a loving family and have a great attitude towards life.

Dear Tommy,

I'm shocked to hear that you had left us. I worked for TCC more than 11 years. Every time I visited TCC Headquater, you entertained me with courtesy and warmth, and spent time shoping with me. I'll never forget your smile, intelligence, generosity, caring and kindness.

I miss you.

Dearest Tom,

19 years ago, I applied, got accepted, and started what I thought was a job, but ended up to be a second family. At the head of the household, there was You. No matter how tough the times were, You made the best lemonade out of the sourest lemon. For 19 years, I don't remember a single day, I didn't see you smile. Lead by example, you showed me how to enjoy every moment of life, regardless how bad it may seem. For 19 years, there hasn't been one doubt or worry in my mind that you couldn't wipe away with a light hearted sentence of wisdom. For 19 years, there was not one moment I didn't feel safe in our home, even till the very end.

It has been the best 19 years of my life.

Thank you for everything.

I miss you.

Dear Vivian, Karen and Lily,

I am very saddened to learn of Uncle Tommy's passing. Growing up, I have always looked forward to visiting "a-dada's" home during the holiday season.  It was a time to eat, catch up and play, which ultimately always results in all of the children chasing each other in a circle.  I still hold fond memories of these gatherings.

My deepest condolences on your loss and wish you peace and comfort during these difficult times.
