Ying Hou

Ying Hou, a deeply cherished wife, mother, teacher, and friend, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 23, 2025, at the age of 82, at a hospital in Seattle, Washington, following a brave and prolonged battle with cancer.

Ying's life was marked by incredible strength, warmth, and dedication. She spent the majority of her life in Beijing, China, where she dedicated many years to her first passion, education, serving as a respected teacher to countless students. Later in her career, she transitioned her expertise and meticulous eye to the world of literature and publishing, becoming an esteemed editor at a publisher house. After retiring, she embraced a new chapter, moving to Bellevue, Washington, more than 10 years ago to be closer to her family. Throughout her life, she remained a devoted, lifelong friend to many.

Ying's memory will be cherished by all who knew her, especially her loving family. She is survived by her devoted husband and her loving son.
