

On July 7, 1932, Adelio Cruz and Josefa Guerra gave birth to a beautiful baby girl, Consuelo Cruz. Consuelo was the middle of 5 children. Ramon, Adela, who were the oldest and she was followed by Roberto and Ruben. Her family were Yaqui Nomada Indians that would travel from place to place. Along with her grandma Senovia, they ran a little terrace where Senovia made food, Josefa served food and both Adela and Consuelo waited tables. Consuelo would always spend time with her grandma Senovia and comb her hair that would reach her ankles. One day while her brother Roberto was cutting wood, he asked her to close her eyes and place her hand down. Being so obedient, Consuelo followed through with the request and almost lost her finger. At the family's little restaurant, Consuelo's older sister Adela met Isabel Badillo. It was through their relationship, Consuelo met Melchor. At first, Consuelo and Melchor communicated secretly by leaving notes under a rock. Their Love blossomed and they married and moved to Cuidad Juarez. They first gave birth to a little girl, Irma, in 1954. Within the next 13 year span their family grew to include Humberto (1955), Alfredo (1956), Blanca Estela (1957), Guadalupe (1959), Maria Elena (1960), Melchor Jr. (1962), Carmen (1964), Juan (1967), and Connie (1968). It was in 1966 when they move to California. Consuelo was a string Woman. She spoke her mind and was a great fighter. During her later years, Melchor and Consuelo travelled consistently among Los Angeles, El Paso and Chihuahua. Consuelo passed away in Lynwood, CA on June 24, 2017 at 9:41pm surrounded by loved ones. She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Melchor Badillo, her 9 Children, 33 Grandchildren and 40 Great Grandchildren.
