Geraldine Ruth Olsen
May 5, 2021
At some point in my life, my Grandma Olsen became “Grandmother”. It was a conscious change I made. I was no longer a child, and our conversations had new depth and meaning. We spoke of husbands and wives, kids, and grandkids but mostly we spoke of the Lord. You see it was, and still is, the Lord that my Grandmother clings to. A few years after I started to call her Grandmother, she asked me why. I said, “it is out of honor and respect for who you are to me.” God states that you should “Honor your Father and Mother” and to me that clearly includes my Grandmother. She is not a short version or quick name to be said in haste, but rather a formal fixture in my life. Geraldine Ruth Olsen is and always be, my Grandmother.
