Jose "Pepo" Ortiz

Jose (Pepo) was born on June 20th, 1952 to Maria and Juan Ortiz in Barranquitas, Puerto Rico. After he graduated from high school in Puerto Rico, he moved to California in search of better opportunities.

In 1971 Jose (Pepo) met Maria Eliza (Licha) at work. Jose (Pepo) and Licha went on to have 3 children, Jose Louis Ortiz ,Edgar Armando Ortiz and Leslie Melissa Ortiz (Lopez).

Jose (Pepo) enjoyed helping others as well as coaching kids. He was very involved for many years with Lakewood Pop Warner and East Long Beach Baseball where he became a family member and friend to everyone. Jose (Pepo) and Licha moved to Hemet approximately 9 years ago where he became very involved with the church community of Our Lady of the Valley Hemet. He was very devoted to his church and his family. He spend 99% of his time helping everyone at the church thru the pandemic.

Jose (Pepo) was predeceased by his parents Maria and Juan and his daughter Leslie Ortiz (Lopez). He is survived by his sons and family, Jose Louis Ortiz (Misty, Taylor, Elisa, Kayla and Jocelyn, Edgar Armando Ortiz (Carmen, Ayanna and Jayden) and son-in-law and family Josh, Josiah, Maleah, Mariah and Caroline and brothers and sisters; Tito, Delia, Tony, Carmen, Quiely, Lucy, Paco, Edith, Gara and Junior and nephews and nieces.

Jose will be missed by everyone who was lucky enough to know him, but he will always remain in our hearts forever…
