Louis Elsasser was received by our Lord on September 20, 2019 at Lakewood Regional Hospital. He was a loving husband, father, uncle, and grandfather. Unfortunately, he was disabled and bed-bound for over 20 years, but he always enlightened us with his adventurous life stories.
He was born on September 7, 1952 in Tuscola, Illinois. When he was younger, he loved to ride his motorcycle and travel all over the country. Eventually, he made his way to Long Beach, California and married Lely.
Louis started working at a gas station and a tire store when he was in high school. During college, he worked at a sheet metal toolmaker company where he was a manager. He was also a realtor and an insurance sales man. He was a master freshwater fisherman and a cook. He was a well-respected businessman who led others and always taught others to be humble and forgiving.
He was unlike anyone we had ever known. Louis was a human encyclopedia, chock-full of information that nobody knew. He had a great memory and could remember all the little details, such as batting averages of many baseball players to what awards an actor has received. Whenever he watched movies and sports games, he would always catch the most intricate details. Louis knew all about history and was always eager to teach others a history lesson.
Louis was the ultimate-sports fanatic. If you asked him a statistic on any sport, he would tell you the entire history behind it in detail. Not only was he a huge sports fan, he was also a great chess player; he knew all the chess strategies and was more than willing to teach people. He also loved board games, from Monopoly to Scrabble. Louis was many things, a husband, a father, grandfather, a human encyclopedia, and much more, but most importantly, he was a family man; family was also his first priority
