12th, 2026. He is at peace and resting with Jesus Christ, his Lord and Savior.
Tom, as called by his friends & family, was born on July 2, 1952 at Artesia Hospital in
Artesia, CA to Helen Ruth Alexander Barrett and Arthur William Barrett.
Tom grew up in Lakewood, CA, near Mayfair Park, and graduated from Mayfair High School. Growing up, Tom was a passionate athlete and gifted basketball player. He played basketball and tennis from a young age and through most of his adult life.
Following high school, Tom proudly served in the US Army in Fort Huachuca, AZ, outside of Tucson, as a Specialist-5 level soldier. After discharge, he continued his education at Cerritos College, earning an AA degree, and then at National University, earning a BA degree. Tom spent much of his career in various roles with the American Automobile Associate (AAA) and later in several project management roles of database projects.
Tom was a passionate Los Angeles sports fan, proudly cheering and wearing the colors of the Dodgers, Lakers, Trojans, or Rams (even the St Louis years). He loved many things in life, but sitting and watching a ballgame with his sons was high up on his favorites list. Tom coached Mayfair park-league baseball, football, and basketball all through his sons' childhood years, and continued to be their biggest advocate to follow their dreams and to "Keep Charging".
Tom is survived by his 2 sons, Timothy Andrew Barrett, David Adam
Barrett, and David’s wife, Katherine Barrett and their daughter, Vivian
Francis Barrett. He is also survived by his wife, Ann Barrett and her 4 daughters, Alyssa Gojmerac, April Stewart, Angela Rodd and Allison Villa, as well as 8 step-grand children. Tom was the eldest of Arthur and Helen Barrett,
and his siblings are Fred Schraeder (who predeceased him), Arthur Barrett,
Raymond Barrett, Helen Barrett Diehl, Carl Barrett and Carol Barrett Fair all
of whom reside in the Lakewood and Bellflower areas.
Tom was devoted to his Savior, Jesus Christ, and is peacefully at rest. He will be remembered for his values, his passion, and for the memories he created with his family.
