Betty Sue "Susie" Voyles, 95, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 23, 2026, in Bentonville, Arkansas. She was born in Evansville, Indiana to Samuel Vaughn and Inas Vaughn Lake.
Survivors include her children, Polly (Lee) Edmiston, Jennifer (Scott) Zimont, Michael Voyles, John (Joycelyn) Voyles, Russell (Denise) Voyles, David (Amy) Voyles, 14 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, her brother Malcolm Vaughn, and her brother-in-law David (Judy) Voyles. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Hazel Hicks.
Susie recently moved to Bella Vista, Arkansas, but also lived in Cincinnati, Minneapolis, and for over 60 years in Spring Branch and Katy, Texas. As she moved around from state to state before making her way to Houston, she made many friends and enjoyed the experiences of each new place. She genuinely loved the life she had. She adored her children and could not have been more proud of each of them!
Susie was a fantastic storyteller with an excellent sense of humor. She was creative and imaginative, charming and witty, loving and generous, wise and kind. She loved spending time with her family and talking to her friends. She loved playing cards, working puzzles, listening and singing along to music, drinking coffee and eating sweet treats. An obituary could not possibly capture or describe what a wonderful gem of a human being she was, but I hope you were lucky enough to know her. There is a Susie-sized hole left in all of our hearts, and we will miss her every day until we meet again in heaven!
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
