Beverly Jean Fields

Jean Parr was born in Canton, Illinois, on August 3, 1946, to Raymond and Lucille Parr. From an early age, Jean radiated kindness and joy, always looking for ways to serve others.

She spent her childhood playing with her sisters, Patricia and Annette, while also helping at her Father’s service station by pumping gas, washing windshields and checking oil. Jean married James Allan Hufford May 7, 1966 and together they were blessed with six beautiful children. Jean was both a homemaker and ran an in-home daycare in Crystal Lake. James and Jean shared a wonderful life together before James passed in October of 1982.

As a young widow, Jean was blessed to find love again when she met Joseph Richard Fields, who embraced both her and her children with open arms. Joseph and Jean were married September 23, 1983, and in 1985 they welcomed a daughter together. Jean was an incredible mother who took pride in guiding her children, teaching them honesty, compassion, responsibility, and the value of hard work. Jean loved her children endlessly.

Jean was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her testimony and love for Jesus Christ guided every aspect of her life. She faithfully served as Ward and Stake Young Women’s President, Ward Relief Society President and Stake Relief Society President in two Stakes, and Seminary Teacher for seven years. Her greatest joy in church service was working with the youth.

Jean loved gardening and was an accomplished seamstress, lovingly sewing many of her children’s school clothes. She also had a lifelong passion for genealogy and temple work, finding great joy in preserving family and helping connect generations. Jean was the type of person who made others feel cared for. She spoke softly, with deep sincerity and love for the people around her. She believed in the good in others and saw the world with Christlike love. She was the kind of mom who turned around during a cross country road trip for her baby boy’s stuffed animal, and the type of friend that made you feel like family.

Jean will be remembered by her boundless kindness, her quick wit, her deep faith, her dedication to service, and her love for her family.

Jean is preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Lucille Parr, her sister Patricia Svob, and her first husband James Allan Hufford, Sr.

She is lovingly survived by her husband of 42 years, Joseph Richard Fields, her children Jim (Ameli) Hufford, Jennifer (Jeff) Weimholt, Mathew (Lori) Hufford, Sarah (Tom) Allred, John (Shannon) Hufford, Mark (Maren) Hufford, Josie Fields, Doug (Danita) Fields and Dianne (Steve) Hefner, 39 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and her beloved sister, Annette “Annie” (Mike) Link.

While her family mourns her absence, they rejoice in the knowledge that she has been reunited with loved ones who have gone before her and in the promise of eternal families through Jesus Christ.
