I moved away from Calgary 5th ward and didn’t learn about Duben’s passing until long after the fact. Duben and his dad Robert were our family’s home teachers (ministering brothers) and they were darn good ones. Duben was always upbeat and fun to be around during young men’s sports activities or camping or church meetings. I also remember going waterskiing with his family. My last conversation with him was at the Calgary stake center after a fireside. He had just been on a bike trip to the Australian Outback all by himself. He was spiritually on fire and told me excitedly about his plans to serve a mission.

I am grateful for the opportunity to have become a friend of Duben's. Through my brother Scott, Duben and I met by phone just after he was diagnosed. Duben is the kind of person that becomes your friend instantly- although he was reeling with this diagnosis, he was strong in faith, optimism and humor, and his world centered around you. Duben's light is bright and know that he is shining it on you while he is in God's care. Although I knew him only a short time, I miss him tremendously and think of you often on this journey. I work at Dr. Bicak's office at the front desk and  met your sweet family there last summer.  I just learned of Duben's passing and am so very sorry.  I will keep you and your family in my prayers.

Duben and I grew up together in 5th ward and I have nothing but good memories of him.  I remember he always had a great smile to share. My prayers include your family at this time.

I met you and Duben at the worst of times. His first treatment, I will never forget how the two of you had such strength throughout it all. I am so sorry that you had to have that experience. He always had a smile, even when he was feeling bad. My thoughts and prayers will be with you and your kids. Remember to take care of you.

I am very sorry to hear of Duben's passing. I had the honor of meeting and working with Duben on a special project over the last year. He was a kind soul, and a strong business partner. He will be greatly missed.

Carrie, I do not know Duben but feel as though I do now.  I am in the Bentonville 1st ward and have friends that know him.  I know that through the Atonement of Jesus Christ you will find solace and you will be made whole.  Our Savior knows you personally and knows your exact situation, your exact feelings and knows how to heal you.  I know this through experience and pray you will find the peace that can and will come.

Carrie, my heart broke earlier this week when I learned of Duben's passing and I cannot imagine the depth of your sorrow.  He was truly a joy to be around and touched so many lives by his godly example during his brief journey in this life.  I will miss him and his friendship dearly.

Although words seem futile now in the midst of your sorrow, they are all I have to give you. Please accept these written words as warm hugs to wrap yourself in, and know that I am holding you and your children in my heart at this sad and difficult time.

I remember meeting Duben & thinking how perfect he is for you, Carrie. So fun. How grateful for the sealing ordinance.  You have a wonderful legacy of him with your 2 children.  You are in our prayers.

I grew up in 5th Ward with Duben. I remember playing basketball at the stake centre almost evey day one summer with him and Jesse Glenn, we had a lot of fun.  I remember him as a happy person, he always lifted the spirits of those around him.  My prayers are with you and your children.

Carrie, I grew up down the street from Duben. As little kids I gave him such a bad haircut one day he had to wear a hat to church. So many good memories of Altadore elementary and 5th ward. You married a good, righteous man. You and your children are prayed for in Calgary. Sincerely Anna
