Gail was born to Roland and Madeline (nee Wilson) Perrault. From the beginning, she carried with her a restless energy, a social warmth, and a deep attentiveness to the people around her—qualities that would define the arc of her life.
Gail moved between New York and Montana twice over the course of her life, building homes and communities in both places. She never sat still for long. A graduate of Vermont College of the Arts, she embraced each new chapter with initiative and confidence. She worked on Wall Street, owned and operated the Chambers Fisher department store in Bozeman, Montana, managed the Chamber of Commerce in Livingston, Montana, and later taught preschool. She was a member of the PEO sisterhood, Chapter BW in Livingston, MT for over thirty years. Each role reflected her independence and her willingness to engage fully with the world around her.
At the center of her life was her devotion to her husband, Robert Lee Jockers. Together they built a strong and loving family grounded in loyalty and care. Their partnership was steady and mutually devoted—a model of commitment for those who watched them closely.
As a mother, Gail achieved something rare. She offered her children both guidance and freedom—providing advice when needed, but also granting them the space to author their own stories. Her love was attentive, steady, and deeply personal. She paid attention. She noticed things, and she showed up.
Gail was a proud and devoted mother of Matthew Lee Jockers (Angela) and Jennifer Ann Koontz (Kelly), and the grandmother of five: Carrson Perry Steele (born 1997), Matthew Aragon Jockers (born 2000), Mason Kelly Koontz (born 2002), Audrey Aragon Jockers (born 2007), and Treston Robert Koontz (born 2008). She was preceded in death by her sister, Madeline A. Muñoz, and her husband, Robert, and is survived by her brother, Michael R. Perrault. Her family knew her warmth, her conversation, and her steady interest in their lives.
She always loved gardening, sewing, and reading—quiet pursuits that balanced her very social nature. Gail often said, “I have never met a stranger,” and anyone who has spent time with her knows she meant it. She moved through the world assuming connection rather than distance, conversation rather than reserve.
Her life has been defined not by a single accomplishment, but by constancy—by work embraced with energy, relationships tended with care, and family held close.
Gail will be cremated and laid to rest at Mountain View Cemetery in Livingston, Montana. A private celebration of life with immediate family is planned for a future date. There will be no formal services.
