George E Rowland Jr.

George Edward Rowland, Jr., 88, passed away peacefully on May 27, 2026 at The Willard Walker Hospice House in Fayetteville, AR. He was born October 2, 1937 in DeWitt, AR to the late George Edison and Mildred (Manis) Rowland. He was preceded in death by his sister Gloria Belle (Rowland) Boyd of DeWitt, AR.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Susan and John Oldfather and granddaughter, Elizabeth Ann, of Bella Vista, AR; life partner Donna Reed Layton of Fernandina Beach, FL; brother Bill Rowland of Little Rock, AR; step-son Carlton (Janelle) Creger of Davenport, IA; step-daughter Christy (Stewart) Jackson of Little Rock, AR.

Mr. Rowland graduated from the University of Arkansas in 1964 with a bachelor degree in business administration and from the Stonier Graduate School of Banking at Rutgers University in 1969 with a graduate degree in banking. He held executive positions with banks in Indiana, Oklahoma and Arkansas during his professional career.

Mr. Rowland was a lifelong Arkansas Razorback fan and called the hogs for every sporting event. He wrote and published numerous poetry, enjoyed horse racing, playing golf and was an avid duck hunter. His most fulfilling moments were visiting with extended family, friends and neighbors.
