Phyllis June Hutchison died peacefully at Circle of Life hospice on October 8, 2025. She was born October 27, 1933, in Ventura, California. She passed at the age of 92. Phyllis graduated from St. Edwards Nursing School in 1956 before going on to graduate from Barnes Awes School in 1968.
Phyllis became a registered nurse and went on to become a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist, working in various hospitals throughout her career. Phyllis has been a resident of Bentonville since 1974. She was blessed with a sharp mind and quick wit and regularly used both to her advantage. If you wanted to hang around her, you needed to pay attention or run the risk of being left behind and wondering what was going on. If you were wisely paying attention, you were treated to a panoramic view of what was in that sharp mind. She was a whirlwind of activity even in her later years, and she never understood the phrase “you can’t do that” – receiving those words as a challenge that warranted proving to the contrary.
Phyllis was also very adept at spoiling our canine friends. She loved her dachshunds and anyone lucky enough to get adopted by her was in for a life of luxury and a position in the household reasonably equal to humans. Anything she could do to make her life more comfortable or enjoyable was done. Abby the dachshund cannot understand what has happened, but it is hoped that she is aware that Phyllis still watches over her, just as if she were still here.
Phyllis is preceded in death by her parents, Cleo and Viva Hutchison; her sisters, Lois Lee, Lotis, Loeta Hutchison; and her nephew, Terry Lee.
She is survived by close family friend Pat Lee; nephew Michael Lee & spouse Harlene; niece Barbara Lee Garner & spouse Garry; numerous great-nieces and nephews; many amazing and supportive friends; and her loyal baby Abby, her dachshund.
