Rex Miller Schacht, 53 of Bentonville, passed away Thursday, April 26, at his home. He was born July 5, 1964 in Williamsburg, Virginia to Richard Arthur Schacht and Beverly Marie Bryant. Rex married the love of his life, Jennifer Anne Taylor, on January 14, 1984 in Westminster, Maryland, who survives. Other survivors include his sons, Ryan Douglas Schacht (Kendra) and Richard Thomas Schacht; his grandsons, Jonathan and Eric; sister, Regina Marie Chaskin (Adam); brothers, Richard Kent (Sharon), Ronald Arthur, and Lance Schacht; niece, Camryn; nephews, Grant, Noah, and Michael and many dear friends.
Rex was a professional civil designer and, as owner of Balloons by Zowie Designs, he was a talented artist. He coached multiple Little League teams. Rex was a devoted member of his church. He was an avid wrestler and swimmer in his school years. As an adult, Rex enjoyed his dogs, steamed crabs, computers, traveling, baseball cards, playing cards, being Santa, shooting, and working with his vast tool collection. Rex was known for his wit, quick thinking, kindness, charity, common-sense, calm and forgiving nature. He especially liked performing anonymous kind acts.
Rex’s visitation is May 4th from 5-7 at Callison-Lough on Central. Memorial is May 5th at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Bentonville at 11 am. Final resting is in Carroll County, Maryland.
