

Robert Thomas Browning Sr. passed away on January 28, 2026, at the age of 80. Born on April 12, 1945, in Hiwasse, Arkansas, Robert was a longtime resident of Southwest City, Missouri. He spent his childhood in Hiwasse, where he was raised before later moving to California, a place that shaped much of his adult life.
Robert proudly served his country in the United States Navy. Following his military service, he worked for the California Department of Forestry, and later dedicated many years to the California Department of Corrections. After retiring from the State of California, Robert earned an Associate of Arts degree in Electronics and went on to start his own television and radio repair business, where his skill, patience, and love of problem-solving were well known.
Robert is preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Evaden Browning; his siblings, Margaret Van Dyken, Mildred Massingale, Thomas Turipitt, and Wayne Turipitt; and his grandson, Nathan Merritt, and granddaughter, Shyann Browning.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Nona Browning, with whom he shared 53 years of marriage; his children, Beth Browning; Jackie Johnson; Rita Sigmon; Kelly Kapoor (husband, Gaurav Kapoor); Rob Browning Jr. (wife, Georgeana Browning); and Earl Browning; his siblings, Hurly Browning (and wife Sara) of Noel, Missouri; Dean Browning of Hiwasse, Arkansas; Rosella Browning of Gravette, Arkansas; Patsy and Eddie Pruitt of Centerton, Arkansas; Sharon Herrington of Gravette, Arkansas; and Iris Browning Wilmoth of Grove, Oklahoma; as well as 25 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Robert loved to travel and was deeply passionate about United States history, often enjoying learning, sharing stories, and visiting places connected to the nation’s past.
He will be remembered for his dedication to family, lifelong curiosity, love of history, and years of service, leaving a legacy of strength, knowledge, and love.
