AJ served in the US Army during the Korean war. He was a self-employed trucker working all over the state of Oklahoma until 1998 when he retired. Prior to being a trucker he was in construction building houses and apartments.
He enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing with his son and brothers. He loved relaxing in his easy chair watching OU football and recently the OKC Thunder basketball on the television. He also enjoyed listening to gospel music. He especially enjoyed spending time with his wife and family.

To all of A.J.'s family and friends; please know that I was very sad to hear this hard news from Roger this afternoon, and I spoke briefly with Dian this evening. I have a long history of fond and close memories with the Kinders and y'alls clan of folks in Oklahoma--my absence this weekend and Monday is bitter for me and I regret not being with you. I am still part of your special family, I would be there, bow in hand. Do not think that I am not with you.
A.J. is one of the last of his Greatest Generation, of our unique shared heritage and legacy of Oklahoma, one of a kind, never to be duplicated. A soldier, a king of the road, father, friend and man of his own ways. A.J. still rolls on, and never leaves any of you, and I will keep his memory close as you do the same. I do now and will Mark and Honor his Life and Passing in this way from here in Louisiana. Accept my meager condolence, I know God Blesses you all in this hardest of duties this weekend.
