Dwane Wasemiller, 76, a proud lifelong Oklahoman, passed away in Oklahoma City on Tuesday, October 7, 2025. Born on November 12, 1948, to Alfred and Mildred Wasemiller, Dwane was raised as an only child in the heart of Oklahoma, where he developed a strong work ethic, a love for the open road, and strong family ties.
After graduating from high school, Dwane built a rugged and resilient life across Oklahoma, living in Elk City, Woodward, and Oklahoma City. He spent many years working in the oil fields before acquiring EZ Shop in Sayre, Oklahoma — a convenience store he proudly owned and operated. Later, he found his true calling behind the wheel as a truck driver, a career that spanned more than 35 years. He spent countless hours crossing the country with the calm confidence of a man who knew and loved the road.
Dwane enjoyed life’s simple pleasures, quiet routines, and good country music. But above all, he cherished his family. He loved his cross-country adventures with his sons — trips always filled with laughter and good-natured mischief. He adored his three stepdaughters, raising them as his own, and they loved him just as deeply in return. Known for his kind heart and accepting spirit, Dwane never forgot a birthday and made sure every call was made, every moment remembered.
He is survived by his son, Michael Wasemiller, and his wife Rachel, along with their adult sons, Cole and Justin, all of Medford, Oregon; his son, Gregg Wasemiller, and his wife Leslie, along with their adult children, Payton and Austin, all of Arlington, Texas; his stepdaughters, Dawn Lucy and Tammy Darnell, both of Midland, Texas; and Rhonda Merrifield and her husband John, of Elk City. He is also survived by ten grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and Charlotte Yundt, his companion of 26 years.
Dwane lived a long and full life — one defined by hard work, independence, and heart. To know him was truly a blessing. He loved big, lived big, and left a lasting mark on everyone who crossed his path.
His legacy continues down the highways he traveled and in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known him.
Rest in peace, Savage D.
