Betty Lucille Harris, age 90, passed away at home Friday, February 24, 2023 in Oklahoma City. She was born July 1, 1932 in Jacktown, Oklahoma to William R. and Willie T. (Middleton) Williams. Betty was one of 10 children who learned the value of hard work picking cotton at age 3. In Oklahoma City, she met and married the love of her life Walter Harris. They made their home in Oklahoma City where they had 3 children. They eventually bought land in Wellston, Ok where side by side they built the house, tended the farm and raised the children. Betty loved all animals, many who were lost found their way to the farm and were welcomed affectionately to their new home. She also loved cacti which she collected and earned the name “The Cactus Rustler” by her family. She created and enjoyed bountiful and beautiful gardens, playing the guitar, card games, dominos and cooking delicious meals for her family. Betty and Walt were blissfully married for 56 years. Together they enjoyed country dancing and were able to enjoy adventures in their travel trailer to the western United States and south to the Big Bend, Texas area. Betty will be reminisced most fondly for the time and attention given to each grandchild making each feel they were the most important person in the universe.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Walter; and 9 brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her three children, Victor Harris, Lisa Harris, and Rick Harris and wife Patti; 7 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren and “2 buns in the oven”.
