

Betty Beryle (Wanzor) Warren passed away Monday, January 8, 2024 in Oklahoma City. She was born January 25, 1933 in Mountain View, OK at home to William Dorsey and Louise Kathryn (Kissner) Wanzor. Betty married Waldo Willis Warren from Lookeba, OK on April 11, 1954 at the 1st Methodist Church in Carnegie, Ok. They lived in Carnegie for 5 years and then in 1958 moved to Oklahoma City, Ok. They immediately joined St John’s United Methodist Church. In 1988 they joined Putnam City Methodist Church. She served in many capacities at church and sang in the choir for many, many years. She was also involved in “Share Group” for over 50 years. Betty accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior at age 18 in the 1st Baptist Church in Carnegie, OK.
Betty graduated from Carnegie High School. She then attended the University of Central Oklahoma and received an English Major and a Library Science Minor. She later received her Master’s in School Administration.
She worked at a soda fountain in two drug stores (Bumpas Drug and Liberty Drug) and at Liberty Theater during high school. She then worked for Farmers National Bank and in an insurance office. Once she received her college degree, she worked at Putnam City Junior High School for 21 years (1967-1992) as the Librarian.
Betty was a Master Gardner and a master seamstress. She was involved in the Oklahoma Sewing Club and the American Sewing Guild. She was on the Oklahoma City Planning Commission for 3 years and enjoyed over 14 years of planning trips for the Putnam City Retiree Travel Club (Began in 2000).
Betty is survived by her husband Waldo of 69 years, her sisters Joann Leatherbury of Apache, OK and Shirley Bryant of Carnegie, OK
She is also survived by her son Randy Warren (Kim), daughter Kathy Lester (Bruce), grandchildren Matt Warren (Tay), Katy Shadid (Chris), Betsy Bridges (Barry), Alli Homan (Jordan), Amy Lester, great grandchildren Micah, Noelle, Layla, Henry, Jack, Titus, Daniel, Samuel, Heidi and numerous nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Carl Wanzor (Bernyce), brother Wayne Wanzor (Mary), sister Wyona Tate, sister Willa Mae Goolsby (Roger), brother-in-law Doyle Leatherbury and brother-in-law Gus Bryant.

Viewing will be 4pm-6pm Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at Bill Merritt Funeral Service. Services will be 10am Thursday, January 11, 2024 at Bill Merritt Funeral Service with interment to follow at Resurrection Memorial Cemetery.
