Carola Jo (Pickney) Hawkins-Whittet

Our loving mother and grandmother, Carola Jo (Pickney) Hawkins-Whittet, age 82, passed away Tuesday, October 31, 2023. She was born February 1, 1941 in Oklahoma City to Joe and Alice Ruth (Royse) Pickney. She graduated from Bethany High School in 1959 and married Walter Hawkins. In 1961, they welcomed their son, Walter Jr. Carola never missed a single game and enjoyed cheering on her son in football, baseball, and track. In 1972 she married Ralph Whittet. Carola was an avid animal lover – dogs, cats, and horses. She worked as an accountant/bookkeeper in various places before settling at Church of the Servant where she worked from 1979 until her retirement in 2011. She then went on to attend New Hope Methodist Church where she attended until her health declined. She will be missed by many. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Northaven/Morada Assisted Living Center for taking such good care of Carola.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, David Pickney.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Walter Hawkins, Jr. and Renee; and her granddaughter, Lauren Hawkins.

Graveside services will be 3pm Friday, November 10, 2023 at Resurrection Memorial Cemetery.
