Mustang resident, Eddie Carroll Thacker, 76, passed away Monday, November 18, 2019. Eddie was born January 28, 1943 in Granite, Oklahoma to Walter and Williard (Brooks) Thacker. When he was a young boy, they moved to Oklahoma City where he attended Putnam City Schools. When he was 2-3 years old, his mom was sick and resting in bed. The footboard was tall, so she was unable to see little Eddie clearly. She would see the top of his head, and then hear him giggle and fall back. After seeing this several times, and not knowing what he was doing, she had someone come in and watch Eddie to see what he was doing. Turns out, he had a handful of bobby pins and was sticking them in the electrical outlet until they melted and shocked him, hence the giggling and falling back. That was when his love of electricity began, and continued throughout his life. He was a member of IBEW , International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers for 50+ years. While working at Higgins Sign Company when Carol was a child, she was always so proud that her Daddy got to put Santa and his sleigh on the famous Gold Dome at 23rd and Classen in OKC. He eventually retired from GM after 22 years He eventually retired from GM after 22 years. He married the love of his life, Lynette, on June 9, 1962. Together they raised their daughter, Carol. Eddie was a wonderful father to Carol. When she had her son, Christopher, at a young age, Eddie stepped in as a father figure once again, as he had for his sister's sons years before. He loved to go deer hunting with his older brother, and enjoyed taking his grandson hunting and fishing as well. Eddie was the solid rock on which his family leaned. He was a loving husband; a kind and patient father; a doting grandfather; an ornery brother; a wonderful son; and an excellent friend to so many people. His bright and shining personality will be missed by all who had the pleasure to be a part of his life. Eddie was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Lynette Thacker; daughter, Carol Winterland; grandson, Christopher Thacker; granddaughter, Kayla Winterland; great grandson, Joseph Thacker; great granddaughter, Raven Thacker; Brother, Dwain Thacker; Sister, Algerita Massy; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Eddie and Lynette were good friends and neighbors for many years.
He was always available to help in dealing with our electrical problems, and we appreciated his expertise. We visited the funeral home but were unable to sign the visitor's book. He will be missed.
