George was born on May 17, 1940, in Fairview, Oklahoma, just minutes after his twin brother, David. He was the son of Julianna and Elmer Roberts. Julianna often shared that the premature twins were so small they slept in shoeboxes she made into beds. After graduating from Fairview High School, George moved to Oklahoma City with David and worked as a hospital orderly, fulfilling the service required at that time. During this period, he met his wife, Jeanette, and they were married on June 21, 1963. George spent most of his career as a machinist at companies including Rockwell Commander, Honeywell, and Seagate. Gifted with mechanical skill, he could repair any machine or engine and even fabricate the parts needed. He was always willing to help friends and neighbors with their cars and other mechanical or electrical problems.
Outside of work, George enjoyed steam engines and attending steam engine shows, and he even built several engines himself. He also loved fishing and spending time with his family. While his granddaughter Rosie attended Southern Nazarene University, George took great pleasure in cheering for her and the softball team. Over the years, he was active in several clubs, including the computer club, gem club, Germans from Russia club, and radio club.
George was preceded in death by his parents, Julianna and Elmer Roberts, and by his brother, Loyal Roberts.
George is survived by his beloved wife Jeanette of 62 years, his son Randy Roberts and his wife Kathy Sue; his cherished grandchildren, Rosie Ashworth and husband Aaron, and Randa Livingston and her husband James, as well as his eight great grandchildren Stryker, Hunter, Blaze, and Jax Ashworth, and Katherine, Adelyn, Peter and Lucas Livingston. He is also survived by his brothers David, Gordon and his wife Lynetta, and Ronald Roberts as well as several nieces and nephews.
George will be remembered as a loving Husband and father as well as a friend to many.
