Glen Alan Gean died peacefully Monday, December 5, 2022 at home with his wife, Brigette, at his side. Glen was born March 20, 1959 in Memphis, TN to Robert & Joyce Gean. In 1965, he and his family moved to Huntsville, AL where he grew up. Glen joined the US Air Force immediately after high school in 1977. He received an honorable discharge upon his retirement from the Air Force in 1997 and the same year he earned a BS in Human Resources from Park University. He then graduated University of Central Oklahoma with a Masters’ Degree in Counseling.
Glen was a single parent to his son, Aaron Andrew Gean, who was born in 1988 until he met the love of his life, Brigette Donaghey. On October 18, 1997, they married and just recently celebrated 25 wonderful years together.
Glen loved his family. He was a quiet, kind, and thoughtful man but Brigette brought out the very best in him. He made her smile and laugh with his frequent surprises, affectionate teasing, jokes, stories, and fresh flowers. Glen and Aaron had a special relationship being just the “guys” who enjoyed jokes, television shows, going out to eat and camping and hiking together. When Aaron became involved in Boy Scouts in 3rd grade, Glen became an Assistant Scout Master and served for 16 years. Glen loved his parents and shared a very special bond with his dad.
After his retirement, Glen became a Guidance Counselor at Northeast High School, then at Classen School of Advanced Studies in Oklahoma City. Because he loved sports, he held many coaching positions during his time there.
Glen really loved sports, especially Alabama football (Oklahoma was a close second!), Nascar and traveling with Brigette. He was a member of Crown Heights United Methodist Church and served in several capacities there. He and Brigette enjoyed going on many United Methodist Mission Trips together: among them Ghana, Mexico, England as well in the local Oklahoma community.
Glen is survived by his wife, Brigette of Oklahoma City, his son, Aaron of Oklahoma City, his father, Robert Gean of Huntsville, AL, his brothers, Lee & (Martha) Gean, Mark & (Connie) Gean, niece Meredith & (Dr. Morgan) Hull, nephews Matthew Gean and Zachary Gean, great-niece Elizabeth Hull as well as two cousins: Joyce Cupp and Dennis (Kathy) Campbell.
He was recently preceded in death by his mother, Joyce Gean and his infant brother Robert Glynn Gean, Jr.
