Golda Mae VanSchuyver was called to her Heavenly Father's House on February 7, 2024, at the age of 100 years 4 months and 12 days. Golda was born to Floyd and Bertha VanSchuyver in Chisholm, Oklahoma on September 26, 1923. She had four brothers - Oscar, Basel, Enos and JC and two sisters - Sylvia Zwingle and Martha McReynolds. In 1925, the family moved east of Amber, OK bringing everything they had in a covered wagon pulled by a team of horses. She lived there with her family until they moved three miles south of Amber which would become the VanSchuyver Homestead for the next 100 years. She graduated from high school in 1942, where she was involved in various activities. Soon thereafter she attended Draughons Business College in Oklahoma City. After Draughons, she was employed by Gibson’s Products as a secretary. After the accidental death of her brother Enos in 1943. She returned to OKC to work for Dr. Turner. Later she decided to go back to school and get her degree from Oklahoma City University, she was a member of the Alpha Omega Sorority, later merging with Delta Zeta Sorority. She remained friends with her sorority sisters throughout the years.
On June 25, 1946, she married Rolla Ray Bogle, who served as a Staff Sergeant with the U.S. Army. They were happily married for forty-three years before Rolla’s passing on October 15, 1990. To this union four children were born, one daughter, Sharon and three sons, Darrell, David, and Dale.
Golda was a “stay at home mom”. She was interested and involved with all the activities of her family. The family belonged to West Tenth Baptist Church where she was a vacation bible school teacher. Her children were outstanding members of the Oklahoma County 4- H, winning many awards and trips. She was a member and officer of the PTA, and a home room mother for all her children. Golda was a kind and caring Christian wife and mother and took great joy in loving and nurturing her family. When her youngest child, Dale, was in school she decided to take china and oil painting lessons and became quite talented. She and Rolla were able to take a number of wonderful trips and cruises to see the world together, which they thoroughly enjoyed.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Rolla Bogle; son, Darrell Bogle; parents, Floyd, and Bertha VanSchuyver; her four brothers, Oscar, Basel, Enos and JC and his wife, Billye VanSchuyver; her two sisters, Sylvia Zwingle and Martha McReynolds; and nephew, Drew VanSchuyver and her sweet, little Cindy. Cindy was her Shih Tzu that gave her much comfort and joy for 15 years. She was sure to be happy to see that her beloved Cindy was waiting for her on the other side of the Rainbow Bridge.
She is survived by daughter and son-in law; Sharon and Carl Patrick of Dallas, TX; grandchildren and their spouses: Andrea and Jason Meredith; Dana and Randy Smith; Kendra and Jace Curtis; great-grandchildren; Addie and Ellie Meredith and Ava Curtis.
Son and daughter in law; David and Sharon Ann Bogle of Sand Springs, OK; grandsons and their spouses; Aaron and Amanda Bogle; Ryan and Misty Bogle; great-grandchildren; Payton, Hadley, Maddox, Millie, and Henry Bogle.
Son and daughter in law; Dale and Tracy Bogle of Yukon, OK; grandchildren and their spouses: Riley and Brody Dyer; Channing and Hunter Chism; Brit Bogle and Bryce Bogle; Great-grandchild; Georgia Dyer. Along with many wonderful Bogle and Van Schuyver nephews and nieces from all over the United States and a host of loyal and loving friends.
Golda lived in Stonebridge Lake Estates for 10 years and lived out her later years at Spanish Cove Retirement Community. Golda was blessed to spend her 100th birthday surrounded by her closest family and dearest friends.
Visitation will be 8am-5pm Monday, February 12, 2024 and 8am-7pm Tuesday, February 13, 2024 at Bill Merritt Funeral Home.
Her service will be held on February 14, 2024, at 11:00am at Bill Merritt Funeral Home located at 6201 NW 39th Expressway, Bethany, OK 73008.
