Helen Maxine White, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, passed away on April 22, 2026, at the age of 88. She was born on December 6, 1937, in Stidham, Oklahoma, to Newell Bain Nixon and Bertha Mae (Decamp) Nixon.
Helen graduated from high school and spent much of her life in Britton, Oklahoma, before moving to Rosenberg, Texas in 2022. She was known for her deep love of family, her gentle wisdom, and the joy she found in life’s simple pleasures. Her perfect day was one spent surrounded by loved ones at a picnic, sharing laughter, stories, and music.
She had a lifelong love of reading, writing, and poetry, and she passed that passion on to her family, along with an appreciation for music and the importance of caring for one another. She especially enjoyed the music of Elvis Presley and country classics, and her favorite color—blue—was a reflection of her calm and steady spirit.
Helen’s professional life included meaningful work as a registrar for the Red Lands Girl Scout Council, where she contributed to supporting and organizing opportunities for young girls in her community.
In 1957, she married James White, who preceded her in death in 1967. Though their time together was brief, their bond remained an enduring part of her life story.
She is survived by her loving children: daughter Dena McCuistion and her husband Gary of Texas; son James White and his wife Kerri of Oklahoma. She is also survived by her brothers Richard Nixon of Oklahoma and Jr. Nixon and his wife Ronda of Oklahoma; her sister Ottie Lynch of Texas; her grandchildren Dustin McCuistion, Darcie Breazeale, Jared White, and Aubrey White; two great-grandchildren; as well as ten nieces and ten nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, April 27, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Park, 2301 E. Indian Hills Road, Norman, Oklahoma 73071.
Helen will be remembered for her warmth, her strength, and the quiet but powerful way she shaped the lives of those around her. Her legacy lives on in the love she gave and the values she instilled in her family.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Good Shepherd Hospice, 14511 Falling Creek Drive, Suite 204, Houston, Texas 77014, or online at www.goodshepherdhospice.com/donations.
