

James Albert Clark, Jr., age 100, passed away Saturday, August 5, 2023. He was born July 17, 1923 in Lincoln, Nebraska to James Albert and Catherine Clark. James attended Lincoln High School in Lincoln, Nebraska. He went on to attend Kearney State College (BS) and the University of North Carolina (MS). It was at Kearney State College that he met Mary Lou Herndon. They were married in 1948 in Grand Island, Nebraska. They enjoyed 56 years together, raising 4 children and traveling the world. James spent 4 years in the US Navy during WWII. He had a career as US Public Health Service Engineer, retiring in 1980. He then went on to work for the Cherokee Nation. He volunteered with the DAV and the OKC Police Department where he was once named Volunteer of the Year. His hobbies included woodworking, running, and jazz concerts. He was a member of Epiphany of the Lord Catholic Church and Catholic War Vets. James traveled to many places and flew with bush pilots to remote sites in Alaska; worked with Arabs in Iraq to build water and sewer systems. He was honored by Native American Tribes for his USPHS services. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary Lou Clark; 5 siblings, Don Clark, Kenny Clark, Jack Clark, Ruth Steyer and Joe Clark; and sons-in-law, Bob Wills and Bill Medlock. He is survived by his children and their spouses, Connie Medlock, Donna and Gary Woodward, Jim and Vonnie Clark, David and Valerie Clark; sister, Cathy Woytassek; grandchildren, Stephanie Cleveland, Stacey Valdez, Taylor Cleveland, Julie Hollingsworth, Justin Wills, Robert Clark, Ryan Clark, Jarod Mason, Jeremy Pafford, and Lynzee Smith; 18 great grandchildren; as well as a host of other family.
Visitation will be 1pm-3pm Sunday, August 13, 2023 at Bill Merritt Funeral Service.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 2pm Monday, August 14, 2023 at Epiphany of the Lord Catholic Church with interment to follow at Resurrection Memorial Cemetery.
